The vision at Camusluinie is to restore and expand upland birch woodland habitat.
Originally, the hills and exposed coasts of north and west Scotland would have been dominated by downy birch, a tree that supports a huge variety of wildlife, from pine martens and black grouse, to hoof fungi and oceanic lichens.
As such this woodland will be managed for its conservation benefits, will little or no intervention planned. This will ensure that it both provides a good habitat and improves woodland connectivity in the region by linking up with existing stands of native trees.
